welcome to olive gap family band
Creating music on Bandjalang country
Raised beneath open skies and warmed by countless campfires, this family band carries the sound of a life lived close to the land. With violin, cello, and acoustic guitar woven gently together, their music rests on the unmistakable blend of voices that only a family can shape—those rare and effortless harmonies born from years of singing side by side.
What began as childhood songs in the bush has grown into a rich tapestry of old tunes and new stories. Their set travels through reimagined traditional favourites and a steadily rising collection of originals, each shaped by the rhythms of off-grid life and the quiet wisdom gathered along the way.
Together, the three teenage sisters and their parents craft songs that linger—music that feels both familiar and freshly unearthed, shaped by the pulse of stringed instruments and the intimacy of shared history. Rooted in folk traditions yet unmistakably their own, their sound invites listeners into a world where melody, kinship, and a sense of place all meet.
Though the family has performed only sporadically over the years, each member has spent their life playing widely—appearing in orchestras, ensembles, and bands across the region and beyond. Bringing all those threads together on one stage was a rare and treasured thing. This is a slowly emerging family project, blooming in its own time, shaped by the joy of returning to the music that has always tied them together.
